Cook Serves up a cricketing treat.

By on June 7, 2011

Knutsford CC were back to winning ways on Saturday in the Cheshire Alliance with an impressive victory away to Frodsham 2nds.

This was mainly due to a return to form for talented young off spinner Ben Cook (5-55 from 12 over’s) and some brilliant fielding from the energetic Jamie Way (2 catches and a run out).

Knutsfords superb out cricket (7 catches 1 stumping and one run out) restricted Frodsham to 176, Frodsham were indebted to openers Lewis (44) & Pidgeon (34) for their competitive total.

Knutsfords version of Hobbs and Sutcliffe (John Sheridan and Matt Stimpson) got Town off to a flying start with Sheridan top scoring with 43.

Useful contributions from the silky Zain Ai (30) and the always aggressive Adnan Shafiq (33) took the visitors close before the finishing touches were supplied by last seasons run machine Adam Ellery (38 not out) and the yet to be dismissed this season John Sheldon (8 not out).

Knutsford are now 3rd and face a tasty top of the table clash with league leaders Offerton (and Leagues top run scorer Ian Bates) at home next Saturday 11th June at Mereheath Lane (admission free !).
