Egerton U15s 2 Tarvin U15s 1
Both teams were well matched, with Tarvin lining up with a strong midfield whilst Egerton dominated in defence. Robinson and Dunham put in another towering performance at the back to ensure Lasham was rarely troubled.
Williams and McGrath used the flanks cleverly to allow Egerton to exploit their greater pace. Up front, Moore pulled wide to open up Tarvin’s defence, unlucky to be signalled offside as he struck the ball home. As Egerton pressed, Wilson broke through into space to score the opener. Witter played some composed football at right back, with Weatherby dominating in the air as he controlled the left side of defence.
In the second half, a superb through ball from Downing allowed Wilson to escape and finish clinically with his left foot. Mountney was unlucky not to finish off the game when his shot flew just wide from a clever pass from McGrath. Tarvin rallied and won a penalty to pull a goal back.
As Tarvin threatened for the equaliser, sound defending from both Stanton and Wall denied their wingers, whilst the solid Egerton defence made some fantastic last ditch blocks, with Dunham prominent and Weatherby throwing himself to intercept a goal bound strike. As full time approached, Tarvin broke through but were denied by an inspired tackle from Robinson to ensure Egerton won a deserved victory.
