Dendy battle valiantly against a determined opposition

By on April 16, 2010

With Jack Gaskell out from the injury incurred on Easter Monday, once again Jon Cain was pressed into service in goal for Nomads.

Jake Lodge put the home side ahead when he volleyed home an accurate cross from Andy Parker. Mary Dendy battled back and were rewarded when Simon Nicholson equalised with a great individual goal.

Nomads restored their lead when Tom Gaskell went on one of his incredible mazy runs. Having jinked through a ruck of Dendy defenders, he made no mistake with a sweet left foot shot from the edge of the penalty area.

With a 2 – 1 lead at half time, Dendy manager made 2 substitutions to hopefully sure up the  continuous Nomad attack, these substitutions did not reap the rewards that the manager wanted.
The Nomads back four were determined to protect their stand-in keeper from the ever-present threat of Dendy’s leading scorer, Matt Morris. This they did successfully throughout the second half because the visitors never really threatened.

At the other end, Matt Stoten capped another strong performance with a well-taken goal. Marc Toomey completed the scoring for Nomads with a clever curling shot to sew up an emphatic 4 – 1 victory.
