Egerton F.C. Girls seek to build on success.
Knutsford based girls football team is on the hunt for new players for 2013/14 after completing a hugely successful debut season that included winning a trophy at Liverpool FC’s famous Anfield stadium.
Egerton F.C. Girls under 10s – made-up exclusively of girls from Knutsford primary schools – finished their debut season by winning the Liverpool FC ladies competition in front of a crowd of more than 400.
That success followed hot on the heels of a second place finish in a European league, a semi-final appearance in a local cup competition and the prestige of having one of their players selected for The Cheshire FA Centre of Excellence.
Buoyed by these achievements, Egerton head coach Ollie Strauss is now keen to increase his pool of players.
He said: “The players and parents can be rightly proud of what was a very enjoyable and successful season. I hope we can repeat the success and progress even further next year by welcoming some new players to the club. The response so far has been overwhelming but I am sure there are lots more girls out there in the Knutsford area who would like to improve their skills, get fit and play a part in a successful team.”
The u10s are the not the only age group to have done well for Egerton in 2012/13. The u12 team was also rewarded with a League representative player while the u14s, made up of players from both Knutsford and the surrounding area, reached their cup semi-finals.
In 2013/14 Egerton FC will once again run girls teams at under 10, under 12, under 14 and under 16 level in this coming season. Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Ollie on 07900223848.
Training for under 14s and under 16s takes place on Monday nights from 6 to 8pm while sessions for under 10s and under 12s are scheduled for Wednesdays between 5pm and 6.30pm.
Egerton are also considering the possibility of developing an open age Ladies team to compete at a regional level. Again we would be keen to hear from players interested in becoming part of this exciting new opportunity.
