KHC Ladies 1's take on Deeside and win.

Knutsford managed to sneak a win against Deeside following their emphatic victory over league leaders Acton – they would have hoped for more goals but three points were required and three points was what they got.

Knutsford HC Ladies 1st XI vs Deeside
Travelling to Shavington, Knutsford were forced into some tactical changes as a result of personnel available – Katie Allan was moved from her usual position of striker back to centre midfield and last weeks two goal hero Nat Riley was put upfront to try and continue her prolific goal scoring form. It wasn’t to be however as although Knutsford tried everything they could the Deeside defence held firm and were able to repel all that Knutsford threw at them.

Eventually Knutsford got the goal they deserved after Olivia Scott found herself free in the D and was able to slot the ball home – much to the relief of the rest of the Knutsford team.   The score stayed one nil and although not convincing the girls got the three points they needed. Man of the match was Katie Allan for an excellent performance in the centre of midfield, following the positional shuffle.

Games like this could make a big difference as the season draws to a close and the Ladies should be proud of the fact that they manage to win these games in whatever way necessary – whether scrappy or emphatically a win is a win.  They will look to continue this winning form as they take on Buckley next week.

Squad – Katie Allan (MoM), Liz Armstrong, Gillian Cheshire, Kat Heine, Nicole Jackson, Sarah Locke, Alison Marsham, Caroline Orchard, Heather Paton, Nat Riley, Olivia Scott 1 , Tanya Westenraad.
