Knutsford second best again as Sandbach declared Vitor!

By on March 15, 2009

They came away from a 33-0 loss to Sandbach 3rds after a disruptive week again of team changes and drop outs. They were forced to push a number of their players up to the 1st XV playing away to Liverpool Collegiate.

They started the match well and it was an evenly balanced encounter until the young Sandbach backs started to throw the ball wide and the big Sandbach forwards began to throw their weight around. Sandbach also capitalised on Knutsford’s mistakes and the score crept up.The ref made a couple of telling mistakes on forward passes which proved decisive. Knutsford should have had a couple of scores and overall the score should have been much closer.
Chairman Gareth Walton made a welcome return for Knutsford after a long injury layoff, winger Fuller made some really strong runs, Snook at 7 supported well and no 12 Tony Turner tackled so low that next week the groundman have been asked to mow the grass a bit shorter to stop him getting grass burns on his chin as he goes into tackle. Kemps lineout throwing was again good and scrum half Webb played well provided vital cover at times.
All in all Knutsford will need to arrest the situation soon – they need to stop the rot and ask themselves ‘Allo allo, what going on here then?’. Next week Bowdon 2s at home, KO 3pm
