A date for your diary – The KRFC Ball

By on March 13, 2010

AThis week saw another fantastic Supper Club at the Belle Epoque, with a former British Lion, Stevie Smith as guest speaker. It was a great evening on all counts, with plenty of fun, and of course most importantly, some much needed funds raised on the night – which were given an added boost when Stevie ploughed his fee for the evening back into the rugby club, a gesture which really topped off a great night!

However, the social committee have no time to rest on their laurels as their minds have already turned towards the most important night of the year – the Knutsford Rugby Club annual ball!

After the club was founded back in 2004, the ball made its debut at the end of 2005 season and over the next four years it raised an incredible £60,000 for the charity Wish upon a star.

As the club developed and became an integral part of the Knutsford community, the committee realised that they needed to try and secure a long terms future for this fantastic organisation, and so they started working towards raising funds for the development of KRFC, with much success already.

The evening is truly one of the big events of the year in the Cheshire calender with an average attendance of 350 people coming along to the local stylish hotel, Mere Golf and Country Club. With entertainment from the Superfreaks, a fabulous meal, an exciting raffle and a lucrative auction, this is not a night to miss.

Adding to all this, the club have recognised the current economic climate and through some very hard work from the committee have been able to reduce their prices by a whopping 20% to £49.50 per head.

Commenting on the evening, social secretary Steve McGuinness said ‘’The Ball is a great opportunity to get together at the end of the season to celebrate our achievements and to re-connect with all the great friends we have made since the club started. I would like to thank everybody for their continuing support and look forward to see everyone on 15th May.

The night is also used by many local companies who use the event as corporate entertainment which is a complement to the production – the club would be delighted to hear from any other local companies interested in taking a table of 10.

Last year Knutsford RFC raised over £12,000 towards the development of the club , and the club goes from strength to strength resulting this year in the club president Tony Evans and club founder Colin Hurrell proudly receiving the prestigious Full Club Seal of Approval award at Twickenham presented by the RFU president in front of 70,000 before the All Blacks Game in November.
