Businesses to get lesson on how to embrace social media

By on December 6, 2010

Traders throughout Cheshire East are being invited to take part in a social media and business hub event in Congleton on December 15.

It will take the form of a seminar aimed at introducing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to the business benefits of tapping into online resources such as Facebook and Twitter.

Hosted by Cheshire East Council, it is a chance for businesses to find out more about promoting their companies, to learn more about the Government and local initiatives to support business needs and to find out more about how to tender for public service contracts.

Councillor Jamie Macrae, Cabinet member with responsibility for prosperity, said: “Social media is opening up new and unique ways to promote business to a wider and more diverse audience.

“This event will introduce companies throughout Cheshire East to new methods including using social media as a marketing tool; how your business can benefit from search engine optimisation and using your mobile to optimise your time.

“Whether you are an existing business or have just started trading this is an opportunity not to be missed.”

There will be a presentation by Business Link and Lancaster University and an opportunity to find out more about Business Link’s specialist advisers and how they can help improve business and the chance to network with other delegates.

Advisers from Blue Orchid, HM Revenues & Customs, Business Link Northwest, Jobcentre Plus and other Jobcentre locations, East Cheshire Chamber, Reaseheath Enterprise Delivery Hub and

ACAS will be represented in the Business Hub village for people to ask questions.

Tickets, at £10 per person, are limited and refreshments and a buffet lunch are provided for the event, which takes place from 11.15am-2pm at the business park at Riverside in Mountbatten Way. Contact East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce on or 01260 540 570.
