By on December 30, 2010

In the early hours of Wednesday 29th December two vehicles were seen acting suspiciously in and around the High Legh area, namely a White Transit van vehicle and a green Rover hatchback. It is believed that these vehicles were involved in the theft of diesel in the area.

In the morning hours of Wednesday 29th December between 08:00 hrs and 09:00hrs, suspicious males were sighted loading canisters into the white transit van in the High Legh area. Police later attended to find the van unoccupied and secure.

Two males were later arrested for the matter of theft of fuel. The transit van was searched to which it contained scrap metal and several canisters of fuel. Attending officers also recovered a pair of heavy duty gloves, high visibility shirt and a rubber black tube that smelt strongly of diesel.

This is an appeal for any person that may have had fuel taken recently or may have seen any suspicious activity of this nature.
