And the Pedlow Coach Marches On
From the start Knutsford were in control, but were finding it had to create opportunities at Wrexham’s end of the pitch, but after 15 minutes Jones fired a superb aerial ball diagonally across the pitch into the Wrexham’s 25 yard area. Fielding once again showing clinical finishing with a tight angled shot from the right hand side of the goal.
This would have been an ideal opportunity to Knutsford to capitalise by applying still more pressure on Wrexham, but, repeating the mishaps of previous weeks, Knutsford’s defence managed to deflect a Wrexham shot past their own keeper.
As is typical of a team in form, this minor setback did not de-rail the Knutsford train and by half time Knutsford were back in front after a clinical close range finish from the man in form – ‘Hickson’.
At the half time team talk Knutsford were very clear on what to do, so with an uplift of tempo they proceeded to complete the day’s business. Wrexham were never really in the game from then on, with two further goals from man of the match Hickson and robust defence from the rest of the team Knutsford added anther 3 points to their tally, now having taken 16 points from a possible 18 in the last 6 games.
This result takes Knutsford to 5th in the current league table. The next two weeks see two away fixtures against much stronger opposition. A trip to Colwyn Bay next Saturday will be the true test of the team’s return to form!
