Smaller Cheshire police stations could move to public buildings

By on December 23, 2017

Cheshire’s small, local police stations could be moved to nearby public buildings according to David Keane, Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner.

Frodsham police station closed last month – moving in to the town’s fire station – with further planned closures, including a consultation about relocating Micke Trafford police station, near Chester, into a local village hall.

Mr Keane has now said “most” other small stations could move and would be regularly staffed by PCSO’s

He said: “We will still have our dedicated central police stations in our towns throughout Cheshire.

“Beyond those, our way of reaching out in a time when our budgets are being slashed by government is to do what the public would expect us to do, to make sensible decisions about sharing bases and locations.”

The plans have yet to be approved.
