New chair of Marketing Cheshire appointed
Former chief executive of Manchester Central, Angie Robinson, has been appointed as chair of Marketing Cheshire.
Taking over from Clive Sykes, who is stepping down after a three-year term as chair. During his appointment the organisation was awarded two funded projects by Visit Britain and is a key partner in three more. It also secured backing from Visit England and Arts Council England to promote Cheshire as a cultural destination.
Sykes has also championed an expanded online ticketing system to ensure that visitors stay longer and spend more in Cheshire.
Angie Robinson has been a member of the Marketing Cheshire board for several years and will assume the role in October. She has previously been chief executive of MIDAS and the Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
Sykes said: “When I took over I was clear that I would serve three years and try to make a difference. Marketing Cheshire has made enormous progress both in driving traffic to its website and channels and then in monetising that traffic effectively.
“We have a small but hugely energetic and creative team of people who really care about putting Cheshire on the map as a destination for tourism and investors. I felt for my successor we need continuity and stability and Angie was the perfect choice.
“Angie has been a star performer on the board and is hugely respected by her peers.”
