Hammonds of Knutsford collaborate on peach gin

By on December 22, 2018

Cheshire-based drinks wholesaler Hammonds of Knutsford is kicking off a series of spirits collaborations with the launch of a peach gin from The Distillery, the sister brand of Portobello Road Gin.

Over the coming year, Hammonds of Knutsford will be releasing a number of limited-edition collaborations, working with brands such as ‘terroir-led’ tequila producer Ocho and Kentucky bourbon distiller Buffalo Trace.

Its first product The Distillery Peach Gin (42% abv) is rested over fresh peach and apricot for a week, before being single-filtered to retain as much natural flavour and colour from the fruit. The 500-bottle edition contains the gin distillery’s traditional botanicals, with the juniper dialled up slightly to offset the sweetness of the peach.

‘Peach and apricot are both delicate flavours that don’t overpower the delicate botanical structure,’ told Imbibe Tom Coates, brand director of Portobello Road Gin. ‘There is also extra spice added for a longer finish.’

Hammonds of Knutsford suggests using the spirit in a simple G&T serve with a slice of apple, or as a fruity twist on a White Lady.
