Wilmslow business raises over £18,000 for the homeless in golf challenge

By on December 30, 2018

S&G Response, based in Wilmslow, have raised £18,887 for the homeless by hitting 10,000 golf balls more than one million yards.

The challenge was part of the One Million Yards golfing challenge, which enabled Greater Manchester’s Street Support Network charity to employ a new team member until at least 2020. The new team member was homeless before the charity stepped in.

Four team members from S&G Response took part in the challenge at Trafford Golf Centre and spent 10 hours continuously hitting golf balls to support the event, viewed by hundreds of members of the public

Dan Chesney, commercial director at S&G Response said: “We are delighted with the number of people who have supported our fundraising. We know this is a critical time of year as homelessness is on the rise. In Manchester alone one in every 154 people are experiencing homelessness. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to hand over a cheque for £18,887 to such a wonderful charity at Christmas, but it’s important to remember that homelessness is an ongoing issue. S&G Response will continue to raise awareness of the social issues surrounding homelessness as well as supporting the organisations which tackle homelessness head on through education, employment and resource provisions.”
