Freemasons donation helps Cheshire Girlguiding complete Outdoor Activity Centre
A £17,000 Cheshire Freemasons donation to ‘Girlguiding Cheshire Forest’ has helped transform a dream into a fabulous reality for youngsters across Cheshire. Pettypool Campsite and Activity Centre is set in 17 acres of woodland in the heart of Cheshire and offers a variety of facilities to provide opportunities for indoor and outdoor activities ranging from a Rainbow Day to Senior Section camping. Near Sandiway, Pettypool is run by a small team of volunteers who work very hard to create memorable experiences for thousands of Cheshire youngsters.
Girlguiding County President, Cynthia Gent said “On behalf of Girlguiding Cheshire Forest, I would like to express our thanks to the Cheshire Freemasons for their generous donation. Part of it was used to purchase a state of the art bed specially designed and equipped for our disabled members. The centre provides our members with the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in safe surroundings and we would not have been able to complete the project without the financial support you have given. We really do appreciate the amazing work you do for so many charitable organisations within and outside of Cheshire.”
Head of Cheshire Freemasons Stephen Blank said “Girlguiding is such an important organisation encouraging youngsters to have fun, learn and make lifelong friendships. We are delighted to have been able to show our support by helping the leadership complete the centre. Like Freemasonry, Girlguiding is inclusive and I was particularly pleased that a part of the donation was going towards the specialist bed, meaning youngsters who would otherwise have struggled to be accommodated are now fully included in the centres ‘experience’.
