Macclesfield man charged with assault and impersonating a police officer in Wilmslow

A Macclesfield man has been charged with assault and impersonating a police officer following an incident in Wilmslow.

Richard Bates, of no fixed address, was arrested on Saturday 13 April following an incident near to Dean Drive at around 5.30pm that day.

It involved a 14-year-old boy from Handforth.

There have been no reports of any injuries as a result of the incident.

Following his arrest, Bates was charged with assault by beating and impersonating a police constable.

The 20-year-old appeared at Crewe Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Monday 15 April, in answer to the charges.

He was released on conditional bail to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29 April.
