The council’s objection goes to Cheshire East Council, who will make the final decision. The planning committee said Redrow had failed to comply with a number of conditions on the decision notice for the outline permission.

Work to create access to the site is scheduled to start in July, with homes due to be under construction by the end of the year and the first legal completions anticipated in June 2020.

The committee said the design of the properties was not locally distinctive, the application failed to include the pedestrian and cycle route connecting the north of the site to Tabley Road, failed to include adequate and regular public transport provision to the site, and failed to consider the Knutsford Neighbourhood Plan Design Guide in the development of the site or housing options available.

The committee added: “Furthermore, the pedestrian access into Warren Avenue via the Knutsford Town Council allotments is in an inappropriate location for access at present, and will damage an intended assessible plot for the Warren Avenue Allotment site.”
