Jobs fair supporting the local community in May

By on April 28, 2019

The Welcome Community Hub, along with Great Places Housing Association, is holding a jobs fair on Friday 10th May 2019.

The event will bring together local employers such as Manchester Airport, Bruntwood, The Trafford Centre, Kids Allowed and Oliver Valves who will advertise their current vacancies and give guidance on how to apply.

The Jobs Fair starts at 1.30pm, job seekers can drop in any time up to 3.30pm and refreshments will be available in the café.

Sarah Riley, the community hub’s new manager, said: “We are lucky to have such a diverse group of employers on our doorstep with some really great career paths on offer. We are particularly keen to meet with local people who may have been out of the labour market for a while or are already in work but looking to change their careers.”

There will also be information at the event for people interested in setting up their own business, and advice and support for people facing barriers to employment such as lack of transport or childcare issues.

Businesses keen to take part but unable to attend are invited to contact the centre with job vacancies available on 10th May 2019, which will be added to a vacancies board at the jobs fair. For details call Sarah on 01565 750905.

Sarah added: “I’ve worked in the housing sector for 14 years and with the community of Longridge and Shaw Heath over the past 10, so I’m fortunate to know a lot of the staff, volunteers and customers already.

“Although Knutsford is viewed as very affluent there are lots of families who struggle to make ends meet, and it’s great to be part of an organisation that can offer practical and emotional support.

“I’ve also been overwhelmed by the generosity and support of individuals, organisations and businesses across the town who really want to make a difference in their community.

“The Welcome is an organisation that Knutsford feels rightly proud of and having seen the difference we make on a daily basis I feel very honoured to be part of it.”
