North West entrepreneur celebrates business success at No.10 Downing Street

By on February 18, 2010

A local business woman and entrepreneur from Cheshire was last week exclusively invited to No 10 Downing Street, London to meet the Prime Minister as a representation of one of Britain’s best small and medium sized businesses. 30 year old Janna Caley from Knutsford proudly attended the event last Thursday following the success of her marketing based company, Boxed Red Marketing.

Janna who set up Boxed Red Marketing at the height of the economic downturn now has a thriving business that she shares with her business partner Craig Fell who heads up the creative team. Against the odds, the young entrepreneur now directs a successful marketing company servicing clients such as Barratt Homes, the Forum of Private Business and Interserve.  Janna was thrilled to receive the prestigious invitation where she met Peter Mandelson, Sir Alan Sugar and other high profile business entrepreneurs.

Janna comments: “I was absolutely delighted to be invited by the Prime Minister to attend the event as one of the country’s best small and medium sized businesses. Setting up a new business at a time when most people were not taking risks was a little scary but I am proud of myself, and the team, and where we have got to in such a short space of time.

“Our appreciation extends to the Forum of Private Business, who has provided Boxed Red Marketing with the business support and practical guidance that is vital when setting up and growing your own business”

Peter Mandelson, UK Business Secretary, thanked the select number of small and medium sized businesses in attendance for being ‘the backbone of the economy’ and that the entrepreneurial spirit and bravery of small and medium sized businesses was extremely admirable.

He commented on the success of the ‘Train to Gain*’ scheme, the ongoing support of Business Link and exclusively launched a new initiative where the government pledged £13.6 million to provide internships in small businesses by the end of the year as part of the ‘Backing Young Britain’ campaign.

Janna concludes: “I think the key factors to my success have been a combination of determination, lots of hard work, the very best staff and the ability to laugh if things don’t go quite as you want them. My advice to anyone who wants to set up their own business is if you spot a gap in the market place that your skills could fulfil, go and grab it with both hands and work as hard as you possible can to make it a success”.
