Knutsford: Winner at the Visit Chester & Cheshire Annual Awards
The Knutsford tourist attraction was named Large Visitor Attraction of the Year at the prestigious black tie ceremony for its innovation and excellent customer experience.
The presentation followed a rigorous assessment by a panel of industry experts. Winners from all 15 categories received their awards by BBC Presenter Ranvir Singh for their remarkable achievements during a sell out ceremony at Chester Racecourse.
Ranvir commented: “Demonstrating true excellence in all areas is essential for a business to keep ahead of the competition. All of tonight’s winners have shown that going the extra mile in their field can spell success.”
The prestigious Visit Chester & Cheshire Annual Awards were launched in 2004 to celebrate the very best of the region’s tourism establishments which offer an excellent customer experience and have also demonstrated real creativity and success within their field.
Ranvir adds: “All those organisations involved in this year’s awards, whether winners or not, have strived to offer the highest levels of quality, innovation and vision. Each business involved in this process has helped to strengthen Cheshire’s well-deserved reputation as a county that offers a wide variety of hotels, attractions and restaurants, and an enjoyable experience for tourists of all ages.”
The awards were organised by Visit Chester & Cheshire, and supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Trinity Mirror, Virgin Trains, Bank of America, DTM Legal, Prodo and the Environment Agency.
Visit Chester & Cheshire’s Chief Executive Chris Brown added: “This year we received a record number of nominations with standards across the board reaching a particularly high level. Many Cheshire businesses have clearly strived to offer the very best for their customers through their offering, whether it is through using quality local produce, like Harrop Fold Farm who were awarded Highly Commended in the Taste of Cheshire category or by offering the best possible customer experience like Large Attraction of the Year winner Tatton Park.
“I’m delighted to see that there’s clearly a growing awareness throughout our visitor economy of the importance of quality and innovation to help drive business forward, and that has been reflected by all our 2010 winners. These awards can help hotels, attractions and restaurants showcase the quality of their offering and I’d like to congratulate all those who were shortlisted, and the winners on their fantastic achievement.”
Some of the winners will now automatically qualify for the England’s Northwest Tourism Awards, organised by the NWDA, taking place later this year. If successful at the regional level, they will take their place in the EnjoyEngland Awards for Excellence.
Nick Brooks-Sykes, Director of Tourism at the NWDA, said: “Cheshire is developing a reputation as a high quality visitor destination with stunning accommodation, unique attractions and an excellent food and drink offer, thanks in part to those individuals and organisations that have been recognised at tonight’s Awards.
“The past 12 months have seen uncertain futures for many sectors, including the tourism industry; therefore tonight’s prize-winners should be particularly proud of their achievement and I applaud their dedication to delivering only the very best. I hope that some of them will continue their winning streak at the England’s Northwest Awards later this year.”
