A Life On The Ocean Waves.

14 year olds Joanna Powell and Zoe Scott, who are both hearing impaired, will be crewing aboard the ship from Aberdeen to Norway and returning to Newcastle on the 10 day voyage. Girl Guiding UK have generously funded the adventure at both Regional and National levels.

During the voyage the girls and 40 other Guides from around the UK will be responsible for the day to day running of the ship, sharing watch rotas and duties encompassing everything from the rigging to the galley.

Joanna, Zoe and Guides from the Jodrell District took part in a bag packing fundraiser at Sainsbury’s supermarket in Wilmslow on Saturday 19th June to help raise extra funding towards additional costs such as flights to Aberdeen and their Tall Ship Sailing Insurance.

The girls will be flying to Aberdeen to meet the Ship, which sails at 2:00pm on Sunday 27th June. Guide Leaders from the Aberdeen area have volunteered to meet the girls from the Airport and accommodate them overnight on the Saturday.
