HELEN’S HAT-TREK!

Edward Ward from Middlefield School supports Helen’s trek
Fundraiser Helen Crowther is about to embark on her third overseas trek to raise funds for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.
On the 18th November she will join 30 other trekkers in a four day trek through one of the most breath-taking deserts in the world – The Sahara!
The charity hopes to raise in excess of £30,000 for North West children through this unusual event, which will see Helen and her fellow trekkers camping in this unforgiving environment and climbing sand dunes as high as 100 metres in the blistering desert heat.
All the money raised will contribute to CAFT’s work in providing holidays and activities for terminally ill, chronically sick, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West.
Helen comments: “In 2008 I trekked along the Great Wall of China and last year it was the Grand Canyon, but I honestly think this is going to be my toughest challenge yet. We all know how tough walking on sand can be – even walking from your sunbed to the sea can be hard work on holiday! But to spend 4 days with the sand stretching relentlessly ahead – well I can’t pretend I’m not daunted!
I’m sure its going to tough, but when you think of the obstacles the children visiting us here at The Adventure Farm overcome on a daily basis, the least I can do is spend 4 days in the desert! Every penny raised from this trek will changes the lives of these children – it really is a small price to pay! I can’t say I’m looking forward to the trek – to be honest I absolutely hate sand – but the thought of what we’ll be achieving for the kids will be all the motivation I need!”
The Sahara Stomp takes place from 18 to 23 November. You can sponsor Helen by visiting her fundraising page: www.justgiving.com/HelenSaharaStomp .
