Local children’s charity, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, were blown away by the total raised at their 7th Annual Ladies Lunch which was held at The Mere on Friday 17th June.  Thanks to their generous supporters, the charity smashed their 2010 figure by a massive £9,000 raising a phenomenal £26,000!

Corrie star, and charity Patron, Lee Boardman hosted the increasingly popular event which was attended by 330 ladies, including Patrons Carole Nash and Jennifer James, Suzan Holder and Catherine Manford.

The event began with a cocktail drinks reception during which guests were invited to indulge in a spot of shopping from the 16 stalls offering an array of items including fine bone china, luxury silk goods, homemade fudge, linen, jewellery and luggage.

The guests were treated to a delicious 3 course lunch during which they were entertained by the very talented, and very smooth, Howard Wing who was even joined in a song by Host Lee Boardman!  He also had the ladies singing along and dancing on their chairs!

The ladies were then treated to not one but two fashion shows!  Manchester based entertainments company, Gravity Live wowed the guests with their energetic dance routines whilst modelling handbags, hats, umbrellas and luggage from the assembled stallholders.  There followed a sophisticated fashion show by Cheshire Lady from Congleton who were showcasing their range of swimwear, nightwear and lingerie.

Manchester Fire Service’s Greenwatch pitched in to help with the charity raffle, selling tickets throughout the afternoon raising a phenomenal £2,500! They were joined by two very popular waiters from Butlers in the Buff who sold boxes of luxury tea from The London Tea Company one of which contained a special golden tea bag.

The winner of this special raffle, which raised £1,300, walked away with an amazing prize of 2 nights at a luxury London hotel with First class Virgin rail tickets, tea for two at the Ritz and afternoon tea for 10 at home courtesy of Tea and Thee!

And the prizes didn’t stop there!  Another special raffle saw the winner going away with a stylish Louis Vuitton handbag which had been kindly donated by Patron Carole Nash, with a total of £1,500 being raised in the process!

The Auction certainly didn’t disappoint, including prizes such as luxury holidays to Copenhagen and Italy and a meal for 10 at home cooked by the Church Green’s Michelin star Chef Aiden Byrne!  An astounding £13,750 was raised in the auction!!
Julie Gray, Events & Community Fundraiser at CAFT, was thrilled with the success of the event: “This event surprises us every year, it just gets bigger and better!  It began in 2005 with 60 ladies at Belle Epoque in Knutsford raising £2,500, and now we’re welcoming 330 guests to The Mere and raising over £25,000!

This is all down to our amazing supporters who never fail us, we are so grateful for their support and generosity.  The funds raised at this event will help us to provide life-changing holidays to local children in desperate need, we really can’t thank them enough.”
