Busy Bees go over the Rainbow for Tatton Flower Show

By on July 21, 2011

Busy Bees and Leapfrog Nurseries in the North of England will be showcasing a spectacular garden at Tatton Park Flower Show, taking place from the 20th – 24th July, based on the much loved film, the Wizard of Oz
.

Busy Bees Nurseries entered into the RHS Show at Tatton Park last year, with popular children’s stories, ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and ‘Planting a Rainbow’ by Louis Ehlert, and received ‘Highly Commended’ from the Tatton Flower Show judges, the highest award given to a school garden.

This year the Wizard of Oz theme is abundant within the garden, with a yellow brick road, the Wicked Witch of the West, munchkins, and of course Dorothy with her beloved Toto!

This year, the garden will be officially opened by Councillor Harry Lyons, the Lord Mayor of Manchester, at a champagne and strawberry reception,. Manchester’s Town Crier will also be there to announce the opening to all the flower show visitors, and popular songs from the Wizard of Oz musical will be played.

Children and staff from Busy Bees Nurseries across the North West helped by planting, watering and sowing seeds, as well as making models to enhance the garden’s colourful themes.

At the show, visitors and their children will have the opportunity to enter into a special colouring competition each day, to win a host of exciting giveaways, including Bob the Builder goodies, Rainbow Magic goodie bags, and a Wizard of OZ film and storybook.

Carole Chadderton, Regional Director for Busy Bees nurseries in the North West, said: “Thanks to the hard work of the nursery team and kind donations from sponsors, the garden will look fantastic, with flowers all the colours of the rainbow!”
