Tackling alcohol related crime.
ARCHANGEL is the brand name for a collaborative, multi agency approach to target the problem of alcohol related crime and disorder, underage drinking and alcohol related incidents.
This Initiative has already been launched in other towns and cities across Cheshire such as Chester, Warrington, Macclesfield and Congleton and the effects have been positive.
The idea behind ARCHANGEL is that the local police work with all licensed premises to ensure that “reducing alcohol related incidents” is high on their agenda. This way Knutsford can remain a safe and welcoming place for residents and visitors to enjoy and challenge the perception that it is sometimes unsafe to go out at night in our town centres.
Knutsford and Wilmslow are safe places to go out and every one will benefit if this perception can be proven and upheld. By working together with the licensed premises in each town and promoting an increase in standards, there are improvements that can be made to the night time economy that will benefit everyone in the community.
In order to measure the effect of this initiative Cheshire Police are holding a series of Focus Groups throughout March in which certain groups of people will be asked their views and opinions on Alcohol Related Crime &
Disorder. These Focus groups will be held locally and last around 45 minutes. Sgt Miller said ” If you are a local resident and would like to be involved then please could you e-mail me with your contact details so we can get in touch and let you know where an when the Focus Group meetings will be held. We would really appreciate your help in making your town a safer place to go out”
