Carla Kompany, wife of Manchester City’s captain Vincent Kompany was joined today by friend and wife of footballer Emile Heskey, Chantelle Tagoe to launch Cycletta Cheshire 2012.

The series returns to Tatton Park on 7th October following its hugely popular inaugural event in 2011, which saw Olympic Gold Medallist, Victoria Pendleton cycling alongside nearly one thousand local women.

As more women continue to be inspired by the national Cycletta series, Carla and Chantelle will be joined on the event by soap stars Tina O’Brien and Helen Flanagan as well as Debbie Lescott wife of Manchester City’s Joleon and Jessica Lawlor, wife of Aston Villa’s Stephen Ireland, who will all be riding in the event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Cycletta’s official charity partner. Catherine Wiggin, Bradley Wiggins wife and Claire Rutherford, Ian Stannard’s girlfriend will also extend their family’s love of cycling to take part in the event on 7th October.

Cycletta part of the Human Race group is a national series of women only bike rides. With the continued support of Victoria Pendleton the series aims to encourage more women to get on their bikes for fitness and fun, whilst also providing a new and exciting platform for women around the UK to raise significant sums of money for charity.

Carla Kompany said, “I’m really pumped at the prospect of keeping fit whilst raising money for such a great cause amongst hundreds of other brave women.”

Chantelle Tagoe said, “I’m so pleased to be taking part in this Cycletta, it’s a great way for women to keep fit and also for a great cause.”

Sarah Page, Local Fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support said, “Macmillan Cancer Support are delighted to be the Official Charity of Cycletta. To have these high profile individuals joining in and supporting our cause is fantastic; a huge thank you to everyone who will be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support in the event.”

Emma Copson a local Champion for Breeze, a British Cycling initiative said, “We’re really pleased to be teaming up with Cycletta closing the gap between women’s and men’s cycling. We hope the event will inspire more women to get involved in the sport!”
