Save the date: Waugh Brow farm & Box Clever Hampers invite you to join them for a celebration next Saturday

Get set for an afternoon of food, live music, fun and activities on Saturday 22nd September for all the family to celebrate Waugh Brow Farm’s 25th anniversary and its recent success in the Rural Diversification awards.

The celebration will take centre stage against the beautiful backdrop of Waugh Brow Farm in the heart of Mobberley and home to its successful Box Clever Hampers, will commence at 2pm and is open until 5pm.

“We’re thrilled to be welcoming people to what we hope will be the first of many open afternoons”, commented co-founder Ruth Jones.

“We have a line up of activities from sausage tastings to farmyard ‘pet’ corner, offering something for all.

“I’ll also be on hand throughout the afternoon with step-by-step recipe cards and helpful tips and advice on how to transform Waugh Brow Farm products and locally sourced ingredients into some of my favourite home-made family meals.”

The open afternoon will celebrate the best local food and produce on offer from the Waugh Brow Farm Shop together with other Mobberley based companies, with tasting sessions on offer including cheese, pate, freshly barbequed sausages and fresh buns from the local village bakery.

Gourmet Foodie and Beverage Tasting Delights
The afternoon kicks off with a mouth-watering BBQ featuring two different types of handmade sausages from the farm shop. The new steak & stout sausages will be available for the first time to taste and purchase, as well as ‘Sticky Piglet’ pork and honey sausages to tempt taste buds.

The farm shop will be filled to the rafters with delicious cuts of home produced and locally sourced fresh meats together with a medley of delicious local cheeses, home-made pates, such as the stunning Tequila & cranberry  and Pig’s Nose whiskey & herb, all available to try.  Visitors will have a choice of locally produced ales and beers on tap with Tatton Brewery and Mobberley Fine Ales, offering tastings and draught beer. Mobberley Village Bakery will also be on hand with a range of cakes and fresh bread to try and buy.

Box Clever will be showcasing its range of luxury gift hampers with many products available to try out. From its Pie and Pint Hamper, an ideal present for Dads, or the ‘Some Like it Hot’ hamper for Bonfire Night party celebrations.  Families can visit the hamper showroom above the farm shop, and see the spectacular range of picnic baskets, some complete with cutlery, glasses, crockery and cold compartments.
Farmyard Fun
One of the highlights of the farm fun for children big and small will be ‘Countryside Corner’ which features a range of animal pens full of calves, piglets, sheep and chicks for children to touch and pet – under the watchful eye of Farmer Ed who will be on hand with his unique and knowledgeable insight into their breeding, care and importance in the rural community.

And let’s not forget the Box Clever mares & foals guaranteed to delight young and old alike! For the more adventurous, there’s a faux milking corner to try out what it’s really like to milk a cow. Local sheep farmer Tom will be bringing 20 sheep for sheep-shearing demonstrations which will be happening throughout the afternoon.

Throughout the afternoon there will be a host of activities to watch or try, including a novelty golf driving range for grown ups and children alike. There will be live music to listen to whilst watching world champion chainsaw sculptor, Tim Burgess, demonstrating his skills with a range of sculptures on display. Tim is well-known for the throne he sculptured in St, Peter’s Square, for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee visit to Manchester earlier this year – his last local public demonstration was at the Cheshire Show in June.
