Mangoletsi supports customer’s charity challenge
Knutsford based Alfa Romeo dealership, Mangolets is helping one of its customers take part in a five day rally across Europe in aid of a cancer charity.
James Wetherall, 29, asked Mangoletsi Alfa Romeo dealership in Knutsford to support him in preparing for the Screwball Rally, in which he is taking part to raise funds for The Christie Charity.
Staff at Mangoletsi were delighted to help James and have carried out a free full mechanical inspection on the Alfa 156 he is using in the rally.
Mangoletsi have also helped to make the car look the part by providing rally-style stickers for the window and bodywork of the car, while they have also donated to James’ charity.
James and girlfriend Sally, 27, will be driving the Alfa from England through France, Italy and Lichtenstein during the rally.
“James is a long-standing customer of ours so we were only too happy to pitch in for such a good cause,” said Fraser Hudson, Managing Director of Mangoletsi.
“The rally sounds like fantastic fun, James’ car looks great and I’m sure it will be a great experience for James and Sally – we can’t wait to hear all about it.”
The Screwball Rally starts on September 27 and sees participants using cars that have a value of £750 or less to drive throughout Europe.
Each team can choose their own charity to raise money for and decorate their car, and themselves, however they want.
James and Sally’s car has been decorated in the style of a traditional rally car with the logos of Mangoletsi and other local business who have given their support, while The Christie Charity logo takes pride of place across the bonnet.
“I’m a big Alfa Romeo fan and a European driving event is something I have wanted to do for a while,” said James, an independent financial adviser from Hyde.
“I have had several Alfas from Mangoletsi over the years, including my current Spider, and the service I have had has always been excellent so we’ve built up a good relationship, which is why I approached them for help.
“Asking a 14-year-old car to cover 2,500 miles is quite a tall order so it is reassuring to have Mangoletsi supporting us by giving the car a thorough inspection to ensure it is ready for the task, while their donation to The Christie Charity is much appreciated.
“Both Sally and I have friends and family who have been diagnosed with cancer, so are delighted to be raising money for such a worthy local cause.”
