Traffic incident at J19 and J20 causes delays and train incident at Holmes Chapel

A three car pile up between junctions 19 and 20 near Knutsford has caused significant traffic delays, including a broken down lorry blocking traffic.

Traffic on the northbound carriageway saw queues of around 90 minutes. All lanes have now been reopened and the lorry has been removed.

Trains have also been suspended between Crewe and Alderley Edge after an incident at Holmes Chapel where two people have been hit by a train. Police were called to Holmes Chapel railway station today flollowing reports that two people had been struck by a London bound train. Emergency services were on the scene.

 

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “We were called at 12.27pm today to Holmes Chapel Railway Station following reports that two people had been struck by a train.
