‘Patrón The Summer’ arrives at Tatton Park this weekend for Luna Cinema – including specially created cocktail

This weekend, Patrón Tequila will host the penultimate stop on the ‘Patrón The Summer’ cocktail tour at the Luna Cinema in Tatton Park, Manchester. Throughout the summer, Patrón has been travelling the length and breadth of the UK, delivering simply perfect Patrón summer cocktails. Crafted by the most celebrated local bartenders in town, these cocktails include a mix of refreshing summer favourites, twists on classics and locally-inspired serves.
The ‘Patrón the Summer’ cocktail airstream will be there from 25th – 26th August, from 6:30 pm. Luna Cinema is the country’s leading producer of open air cinema events. Their screenings follow one simple formula: a classic film on a big screen in a beautiful or prestigious settings. With state of the art screens, digital projectors and bespoke sound equipment they create a cinema quality visual and audio experience, but with the magic of being under the stars.
For visitors of the Luna Cinema, Manchester, the ‘Patrón The Summer’ cocktail airstream will serve three hero summer serves alongside a specially created serve for Manchester, based on local trends and insight.
Mixologist, Anthony Hogan of Épernay Manchester, will be serving up his own creation, ‘La Manczana’ garnished with an apple crisp, mint spring and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. This refreshing cocktail with be served alongside the classic Patrónic (a tequila-interpretation of the classic Gin and Tonic), a Patrón Hacienda Margarita, a Patrón Jalisco Mule and the refreshingly fruity Patrón Paloma, made with grapefruit soda.
Each hero cocktail is made using Patrón Silver tequila, a 100% Weber Blue Agave tequila that mixes flawlessly into any cocktail, especially those that traditionally call for vodka, gin or white rum.
Talking of his creation, Anthony Hogan, of Épernay Manchester, shared his inspiration for the cocktail; “I’ve picked a local honey for my drink as my main inspiration is the worker bee, which is the symbol of Manchester. So many great things have happened in this incredible city due to hard work and tenacity from Emmeline Pankhurst leading the Suffragette movement to the splitting of the atom bomb. I have tried to pay tribute to all these things and more.”
“My secondary inspiration is local apples. Not many people know that Manchester has tons of apples going to waste every year because there is a lack of appreciation for the amazing things you can find in the wild. The Moss Cider project started a few years ago to forage these apples and make a cider out of it. Blending these two elements with Patrón Tequila, I’ve made a North-West Paloma and called it ‘La Manczana, tying the apples together with Manchester.”

Cocktail recipe:
Anthony’s “La Manczana”
Ingredients:
35ml Patrón Silver tequila
15ml Martini Bianco
25ml Apple and Orange sherbet 15ml Honey water
Top with soda
Method:
Add all the ingredients to shaker. Shake and strain into Collins glass with ice and top with soda. Garnish with an apple crisp, mint sprig and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar
Additional cocktail information:
Apple and orange sherbet: Add 600g of caster sugar, 3 peels of orange and 1 pressed apple together, leave for 25 minutes then add 3g of malic acid and 300ml of fresh orange juice. Strain and bottle.
Honey water: Add equal parts honey and water, stir and dissolve then bottle.
