Christmas Sparkle

By on November 22, 2009

Now, I don’t want to sound rude but between Botox, Brazilians and Bollinger there are an awful lot of Christmas parties to fit In this year (hic)… all hail and drum roll purlease… it is the  “Christmas Column”

LBD’s (little black dress)… they are so far beyond the norm nowadays it becoming boring. Its December, it’s a jolly, festive month and its time to step away from the black and embrace the colours in store for this season, and I am also talking embellishment (As you know a personal favourite of mine from past columns), diamante (usually a huge faux pas, but as its Christmas we can let this one go) and not to mention hem lines so short sending fashionista’s everywhere into a crazed frenzy.

I’m of the thought pattern that for one month of the year, we can actually get away with sequins, so I for one will be donning them with panache. LSD’s (little sequin dress) are everywhere this season, and they come in every colour known to man. My favourite are of the metallic variety, you can’t beat a bit of stone grey sequin dressed up with some fake pearls… see Diva @ Miss Selfridge for some seriously funky up to the minute purse friendly costume jewellery,

For a mannish vibe, opt for grey wet look leggings teamed with a metallic racer back vest and ¾ length jacket and you are good to go. All of these looks are currently being worn by celebs both here and across the pond. My absolute favourite look of  “Christmas party chic” so far has to be Anna Friel.

Anna can be seen at the moment as the lead in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” at The Haymarket. However, what everyone is really talking about are her post-show outfits. Her current ensembles come courtesy of Top Shop, but we have seen her in an array of vintage pieces that would turn anyone green with envy and yes I’m talking hulk-like!

Now, for some unusual Christmas presents. I have as always completed my research. I am going on-line this year, beats the crowds, is of course guilt free as I often find the “one present bought from me, now “one present to buy for me” approach of shopping works out quite well. For the ladies, please check out www.theoutnet.com this is of course the little sister of Net a Porter and for half price Louboutins it’s a site not to be missed.

For the gents, please check www.matchesfashion.com this is a boutique site of the most fabulous designers known to man. If you’re ever in London be sure to check out their flagship store in Ledbury Road, I can promise you will not leave empty handed.

Not forgetting the little ones, my favourite www.vintagekit.com this stocks some of the cutest ranges and clothing you can’t buy anywhere else.

Until next time… Happy Shopping…
