Rain didn't stop play for Knutsford CC 1st team
Unfortunately for the visitors, the Groves then mounted an assault on the Knutsford bowling attack and were 134 for 1 from 26 overs. After rain caused a minor delay, the hosts declared on 195 for 4 (Evans 62 not out and King 80), leaving Knutsford 48 overs for the run chase.
The Groves struck early in the Knutsford innings, removing skipper Storrow for a duck in the second over, off the impressive Crawfield (6 for 12). The visitors then slumped to 31 for 7 before Cook attempted to resurrect the innings with a plucky 33, including 2 sixes.
However, when Cook departed, Knutsford were 87 for 8 and batting out the remaining 12 overs for a draw the only prospect to save the match. Despite a resilient 26 not out by Sheridan, Garvey claimed the last wicket and with it the victory. The Groves 25 points, Knutsford 3 points. Next Saturday Knutsford travel to Stalybridge St Pauls.
