Knutsford 2s Snook away with victory!

By on April 12, 2009

Snook, who has already broken through to the 1st XV in his debut senior season, was simply outstanding. His reading of the game showed real maturity, his tackling was destructive and he became more and more influential linking play like a true openside as the game progressed.
Southgate was also impressive in the centre ,away from his usual role in the pack, making huge tackles and throwing an outrageous dummy in the first half that fooled the entire Didsbury team and drew ‘ooos’ and ‘aahhhs’ from the crowd. Equally influential was his centre partner Walker, who boosted the score line with a well taken hatrick, the pick of which came from a well rehersed backrow move involving No 8 Higgins, Webb, Adam Kelly and finally Walker streaking through unchallenged which completely baffled the Didsbury defence.
Kelly also added to his season’s tally with two well taken tries and young winger Nic Clawson rounded off a great display with another five-pointer. Knutsford managed 5 kicks to leave the score 40 – 12. On a hot and sunny day the decent sized travelling crowd witnessed some great running rugby, excellent set pieces and some great individual performances from the Knutsford XV. It was also a day of if onlys – if only the 2s had been able to get a team of this experience out all season, where could they have finished in the league. Next week home game versus Whitchurch 3s should be a cracker, all welcome for a 3pm KO.
