Fund raising, Hawaiian style. – Includes short video report
KRFC continued a hectic weekend with another of their renowned social evenings, with a theme which was not quite in keeping with the weather!!!! With local band, The Kasuals on stage, Karl “Smoky” Foster on the barbeque and everyone having paid a visit to Matalan for their Hawaiian shirts, Knustford Sports Club was rocking!
Some of you may have noticed a link between the name of the band and our very own vets rugby team – The Kasuals. This indeed is no coincidence, as Steve Cartwright told us. Steve is not only a member of the band but is also one of KFRC’s key shirt sponsors and when they were looking for a name for their band they looked no further than their local rugby club!
The evening was organised, to continue to help raise funds for the planned development of KRFC as one to the North West’s leading rugby clubs, and something for the people of Knutsford to be proud of. With over £1000 raised, despite the weather, the night was a roaring success! This will now become a key part of the club’s social calendar on a yearly basis alongside the après ski evening in January, the Christmas party, and the showpiece rugby club ball.
On the subject of roars, there was another aspect to the evening as we said farewell to our current Knutty the Lion, Matt Southgate. Matt has been an integral part of the club since it began, but his career development sees him now make the switch down to London. Everyone at the club wishes Matt every piece of success in his move and hopes he won’t be a stranger!
Great thanks once again go to Steve McGuinness , Andrew Spark – for providing the beach (2 tonnes of sand), The Kasuals, and everyone else involved in making it another fantastic evening!
